Favorite Video Friday – Spring thaw celebration

February 17, 2017 1 comment

This weekend we are going to be experiencing a warm up that is not only unusual, but unexpected. Never before in February can I remember us reaching 60 degrees, but this weekend we will. That means melting snow and ice, lots of time outdoors and soaking up some extra sun. (I’m leaving out the dog poop pick up because that is NOT fun.)

Celebrating a a spring thaw had me looking for a video that would match how we are feeling right now. And, I think I’ve found it.

I hope you find yourself getting into a celebratory mode after watching Buddy, the Golden Retriever. He certainly did it for me. 🙂

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – Doodad the Greyhound

January 20, 2017 4 comments

I don’t know if I have ever shared this before, but in addition to being a lover of Shelties and Labs, I am a big lover of Greyhounds.

The first greyhound I ever met was Tater. He was owned by a couple I used to walk with at the dog park. He was elegant and graceful and so very funny. He played that deadpan look so well. (Is that a greyhound thing?)

Tater might have been an older greyhound, but he could still run like the wind. He and his sister, Nadya, who is a Borzoi, made running look like art. I loved watching them. Such beauty and grace.

There is just something about this breed that makes me smile.

I think that is why I fell in love with today’s Favorite Friday video featuring Doodad the Greyhound. If ever there was a dog who inspired smiles it is Doodad. I’ve already watched five videos featuring her and her idiosyncrasies!

I just might have to consider adopting my own Doodad in the future. What a cutie!

Happy Friday everyone. May you have some good quality dog time this weekend.

Favorite Video Friday – Snow Ballerina

January 13, 2017 1 comment

Here comes crazy man Tate!My mother and I were commiserating about the weather last week. “We’d prefer snow over the bitter cold,’ we said to each other, and then, just like magic, we got snow!

Of course, it came during rush hour (3 days in a row) which made the morning commutes messy, but I didn’t really mind because… snow.

Fresh snow covers up the old, dull snow. It makes everything look so fresh and clean again. It’s fluffy and sparkly and looks so magical and fun.

The best part is watching the dogs romp in the fresh snow. They love it so much. Foster Maggie rolls around in it (over and over again), Cupcake lays down in it, and Jasper just runs around jumping and spinning around in it. Even Daisy loves the snow. It brings out the puppy in her.

There is just something about watching a dog experience a fresh snowfall that makes it seem more magical than it looks. That’s why this week’s video struck my fancy. Watching Whinny, the Jack Russell Terrier, run through the snow in slow motion is like watching a ballerina, athleticism and grace all in one dog. It’s a real joy to watch.

I hope you enjoy watching Whinny as much as I did.

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – Let’s take a break and go to the beach

November 11, 2016 3 comments

I don’t know about you, but this has been a hard week. The anger, sadness, hatred and fear that surrounds us is almost palpable. It’s in the air, like a thick, heavy fog. No matter which way we turn it seems to be there, following us, clinging to us, spewing from us.

On Wednesday, I took a much needed break from the fog and took a walk with my dogs, in nature. I listened to the crunch of leaves beneath my feet, reveled in the cool, fresh air of the evening, and drank in the beauty all around me.

I wish I could have brought all of you with me, but that would have been impossible (jittery iPhone video aside). So instead, I share a video meant to share the joy and fun of dogs (and cat) while on a beach in Australia. I hope it gives you a smile and maybe a laugh or two too.

Thank God it’s Friday. May your weekend be filled with peace and nature.

Favorite Video Friday – Adulting is hard sometimes

October 28, 2016 3 comments

Let’s admit it, adulting is hard sometimes. There’s so much more to deal with and worry about: home, health, work,  kids, dogs, etc.

We’ve all had those moments in life when we wished we could whine and have someone commiserate with us. A soothing and understanding voice, a pat of reassurance on the shoulder, a new tennis ball, a calming moment with a friend who can help us deal with the tough moments – sometimes that is all we need.

This week’s video features the cutest little Boxer I have ever seen, and she (Lily) is in need of some love and reassurance to get her through her meltdown. I couldn’t stop watching. Her adorable little face had me from the first droopy-eyed look.

I hope you enjoy Lily’s little meltdown.

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – All you need is a woobie and a comfortable place to sleep

October 7, 2016 2 comments

This week’s Favorite Friday video features a sweet Labrador Retriever, named Stella. I’ve been watching videos of her all week. She is clearly a dog that brings laughter and fun to everything she does. I can’t get enough of her silliness.

So why choose a video that is a little more toned down? Because even when she slows down, Stella brings the funny. Sleepy time requires a little something extra.

In Stella’s case, sometimes all you need is a woobie and a comfortable place to sleep. 🙂

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – A little sunny day shimmy with Buddy the Golden Retriever

September 29, 2016 3 comments

Minnesota has been a bit dreary of late. Cold, windy, great and rainy would be great words to sum up the weather here. My dogs loved it, but as their human slave, I did not.

That’s why I was very happy to hear about the expected warm up for this weekend. It’s going to be perfect ball chasing weather, and I just might do the sunny day shimmy, just like Buddy, the sweet Golden Retriever in this week’s Favorite Friday video.

I don’t know how the weather is where you live, but Buddy’s is sure to make you want to get our there and enjoy the day. His enthusiasm and penchant for fun are infectious and adorable.

So how about we get this weekend started? 🙂

Happy Friday everyone!
