Favorite Video Friday – Snow Ballerina

January 13, 2017 5 comments

Here comes crazy man Tate!My mother and I were commiserating about the weather last week. “We’d prefer snow over the bitter cold,’ we said to each other, and then, just like magic, we got snow!

Of course, it came during rush hour (3 days in a row) which made the morning commutes messy, but I didn’t really mind because… snow.

Fresh snow covers up the old, dull snow. It makes everything look so fresh and clean again. It’s fluffy and sparkly and looks so magical and fun.

The best part is watching the dogs romp in the fresh snow. They love it so much. Foster Maggie rolls around in it (over and over again), Cupcake lays down in it, and Jasper just runs around jumping and spinning around in it. Even Daisy loves the snow. It brings out the puppy in her.

There is just something about watching a dog experience a fresh snowfall that makes it seem more magical than it looks. That’s why this week’s video struck my fancy. Watching Whinny, the Jack Russell Terrier, run through the snow in slow motion is like watching a ballerina, athleticism and grace all in one dog. It’s a real joy to watch.

I hope you enjoy watching Whinny as much as I did.

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – Dog games in the snow

I don’t know about you, but winter tends to generate a little cabin fever in me and the dogs. We’ve been stuck inside for almost a week now and we are going crazy. There is ice everywhere and the temps are in the below zero range (night and day) making walks a little dangerous right now.

It’s a perfect time for dog games. Fortunately, we have a slew of them to play with:

We also play hide and seek games with treats.

But, if we had snow and the temps were a little more welcoming, we’d be doing this. B the Dog seems to love these doggie games and I have a feeling that mine might like something similar.

So, what are you doing to help you and your dog deal with the cabin fever in your house?

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – Fun in the snow

February 5, 2016 3 comments

On Tuesday, we had a large snowstorm blow through town. It snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed. We got over a foot here at Casa del Mel. Just enough to cover all the dog poop I hadn’t gotten to yet, and enough for the dogs to have a grand ole time playing in the fluffy stuff. They were SO happy to have the fresh snow.

We’ve been enjoying it all week long.

It seemed appropriate to share a little of that snow joy with you today via our favorite Friday video. Meet two Aussies who really know how to have fun in the snow.

Not enough? Then come on up to Minnesota! We’ve got plenty and more is coming!

Happy Friday everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – Romping in the snow in Nova Scotia

After a long bout of frigid temps, and limited outdoor time for the dogs, we finally have a warm up in Minnesota. Yesterday it made it to 35 degrees, and the rest of the weekend looks to be equally as warm.

Knowing how much time my dogs and I will be spending outside this long holiday weekend, I thought a video that captured our feelings on this matter would be most appropriate, This week’s video was taken in Nova Scotia and features the adorable Zoe and Baxter.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Favorite Video Friday – I invoke Vicky and the “S” word.

After a week of extreme heat, I am so ready for a cool down. I know it’s wrong, but I am actually dreaming of winter. Is it possible to get a day of snow? Just a day? I’d be fine with it (for a day).

Maybe that’s why this video looked oh so appealing today. I know. I know. It has the “S” word in it, but I couldn’t resist.

Brought back by popular demand (well, at least my demand), it’s Vicky! Have fun. Stay cool. Enjoy.

Happy Friday everyone!
