There is no rhyme or reason as to why I chose this week’s Favorite Friday video other than it is very cute. And, what could be cuter than a puppy playing with water balloons?

Cosmo is adorable and sweet. I love his tenacity and curiosity.

Favorite Video Friday – Crusoe’s Morning Routine

Today is the first day of my 11-day vacation (well, technically, 7 working days, but I count weekends too. Don’t you?).

I had decided to sleep in this morning, but Jasper had other plans. Whenever I sleep past 5 am, Jasper jumps up on my bed and lays down beside me and paws my hand. He insists on a belly rub before we get up and get moving for the morning.

As I scratched his belly this morning (at 5:30 am), I started thinking about our morning routine. I’ve probably shared a little bit of our morning routine before, but probably not the details.

This is literally our daily routine (unless i get up exactly at 5 am):

• Jasper jumps on the bed and insists on his morning belly rub.
• Foster Maggie runs in and out of my bedroom excitedly, wagging her tail the whole time (that last part is new!).
• I swing my legs over the edge of the bed as Jasper jumps down. Then, Maggie runs in and we do butt scratches (for her and Jasper).
• I walk into the living room, where Daisy is lounging on the couch, and give her a few scritches.
• I let Jasper and Maggie out.
• I go back and give Daisy her morning belly rub (she absolutely refuses to go outside in the morning until she has had her morning belly rub).
• I let Daisy outside and start preparing Kongs for the day.
• Daisy bursts into the house (she can open the door if it is not locked), followed by Jasper, and eventually, Maggie.
• Jasper stations himself in the kitchen to supervise the Kong making (you never know when a stray piece of kibble will hit the floor), and Maggie watches from the wings.
• Kongs are placed in the freezer (to freeze their yogurt topping) and then it’s time for breakfast for me.
• While I eat my breakfast, Daisy, Jasper and Maggie watch me, like adoring fans.

Crazy huh?

It seems so much more complex than Crusoe’s routine, as featured in this week’s Favorite Friday Video. 🙂

Favorite Video Friday – Dachshund showers feel SO good.

I honestly have no words for this week’s video. I saw it earlier in the week and laughed. There was no question that I would be sharing it all with you today.

It’s sweet and cute, and something I think we can all relate to as humans.

I wish my dogs loved showers as much as this Dachshund. 🙂

Favorite Video Friday – Enjoying winter, doggie -style

Last weekend I took the dogs on a walk through a new park that opened up just a little south of the dog park. It is a wide open space filled with trees and fields and a lake and stream. It has birds and squirrels and rabbits and fox, and all sorts of other critters. There are cabins to rent and trails to hike and panoramic landscapes to be photographed.

Crunching along in the snow along the freshly marked trails, I couldn’t help but feel moved. I could stretch my arms wide in any direction and not touch another human or building. I could breathe. So much space and so much beauty in one place.

I could tell the dogs loved it too. Jasper wanted to explore everything (i doubt he stayed on one side of me for any length of time) and Daisy was sniffing and exploring as much as she could. Cupcake wanted to stop and sniff EVERYTHING. So many new scents and sounds and terrain to be explored.

I think that’s why this week’s video caught my attention. It reminded me of that park and the fun that can be had when hiking through the woods, in the middle of winter.

Favorite Video Friday – A pool party just isn’t a pool party without sexy weiner dogs

After a very wet and cold spring, we are finally hitting the full stride of summer here in Minnesota. Personally? I think we deserve it.

So what goes well with hot summer heat? Why a pool party, of course!

Being this is a dog blog and all, it only makes sense that we would feature some sexy ladies of the four-fitted variety. Welcome the Sexy Ladies Weiner Party (#SLWP). I’ve got to admire someone who can create a pool party video featuring sexy dogs. Pretty cute stuff.

Favorite Video Friday – A little taste of summer

Even though I am taking a break from my blog, that doesn’t mean I can’t share a video or picture now and then, and this week I am feeling a need to share a video. 🙂

It has been a very cold winter in Minnesota this year. My dogs and I are weary of this cold stuff that keeps us inside most days. I am guessing many Minnesotans can relate at this point. Frigid temps make for long days and nights.

Our school officials are nearly apoplectic at the prospect of having to close MN schools down for two more days. (They have already had to close down three days this winter.) In Minnesota, schools are never closed. NEVER. School officials wring their hands over closing one day much less 5 or 6. Yes. It has been a very cold winter.

I would give anything for a nice sandy beach in the sun, but since that is unlikely any time soon, I’ve been doing the next best thing – watching videos of dogs playing in water in some very sunny places. At least I can pretend I am there, right?

Cheer up my fellow Minnesotans. There’s only 147 days and 11 hours until summer.

Favorite Video Friday – Dachshund Sled Dog Team

After this past weekend’s snow storm, I knew it was time to bring out the big guns. Yup. The sled dog team that beats all other sled dog teams.

Meet The Dachshunds from Long Island.

These three little dogs can pull a sled down a snowy city street (with a child in it!) and still have a smile on their faces at the end of it. I must admit, I was quite impressed with their prowess.

I also thought they were extremely adorable.

This week’s video might be a bit long, but I think you will get the pure joy of the day after just a few minutes.

Favorite Video Friday – Madeline and the Crab

It’s going to be a warm one out here today – 90 degrees!

It’s days like these that make me wish we lived next to the ocean. Water, a sandy beach and my dogs. That sounds like heaven to me. Instead, I had to satisfy myself with a little video featuring a dog having fun at the beach. Oh. Did I mention there is a crab involved? 🙂
