Black and White Sunday #90 – Dog in a Hot Car

I took this photo with the intention of calling the police. Fortunately, the owner came back before that happened.

After all the noise being made about leaving your dog, people still do it.

  2. July 6, 2014 at 8:35 AM

It’s so sad that it happens every year. It’s better for dogs to stay at home when it is hot outside. Fortunately this time the owner was back before the police had to come.

Poor dog. This makes me angry.

Great job taking the photo and being prepared. So glad this one ended OK, but I hope they don’t do that all the time.

Poor thing. I’m glad the owner showed up.

Great job on taking a proactive approach! As SlimDoggy said: It is absolutely amazing that people STILL leave their dogs in their cars, when veterinarians, law enforcement, pet bloggers, pet retail companies, and dog lovers like us are constantly spreading the news about the dangerous, even deadly, consequences of the grossly negligent act of leaving a dog behind in a car, especially during Summer time.

My favorite educational video is the one by Dr. Ernie Ward:

I continue to be angry and flabbergasted about this reoccurring issue. Why in the world do people feel compelled to “take their dogs shopping with them” not to mention then proceeding to leave them in a car? What the hell is wrong with people? Grrrrr.

Oh no! That’s just retarded… hope she/he wasn’t in there for long… glad that you were there to call for help!

I can’t believe people still leave their pets in cars. How many deaths do there have to be for people to learn??

  11. July 6, 2014 at 2:25 PM

People need to stop being so dumb.

  12. July 6, 2014 at 3:03 PM

I always keep an eye out for pets and children left in cars.
This past week, some dumb jerk left his child in his car.
we called the cops and he is in jail now.
The child is with his mother.

I amazed that people don’t get the dangers of a cars in the summer. Thanks for continuing to spread the word.

It makes us sad too. If we are taking a ride somewhere, Mom and Dad have to come so that someone can stay in the car with the AC on! Now that feels good!

So as a convertible owner (in a significantly cooler region) the stupid part about this photo to me is that the top could be down! I bring my dogs with me a lot more often than others can because I can park in the shade with the top down, leave the dogs buckled in, and there is no hot car issue!

  16. July 6, 2014 at 5:32 PM

So glad the owner came back before anything bad happened. I do not understand why people think it is okay to leave their dogs in hot cars?

  17. July 7, 2014 at 9:01 AM

WHAT is wrong with people?!? I feel like we say it over and over again but so many still do not listen! I would’ve called the police and broken the window to get the dog out.

  18. July 7, 2014 at 9:35 AM

When we had a car, we’d always leave one of us in the car with her. If it got too hot, we’d have the option of taking her out of the car. As a result, I feel I have a much better understanding of how quickly a car heats up.

Every dog person should sit in a hot car before taking their dog with them. It would teach them more than any PSA.

I love that idea Pamela. Yes. I think sitting in a hot car with the windows cracked (as I have seen in most “dog in a hot car” situations) would be a great experience for people. It opens your eyes.

Don’t know what people are thinking especially in today’s times when there is so much media saying how dangerous this is. Glad it ended without incident
