Daisy and her Second Puppyhood

February 23, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Connecting with Lizzie a couple of weeks ago, and seeing her video of Gracie, made me start looking through some old videos of Daisy. I’m disappointed that I have so few pictures and video of her from the early days. I kind of wish I had taken more to show her progress.

However, I do have two videos that were taken about a year after I adopted her. They’re a good reminder that Daisy wasn’t always a fearful dog, like she was around people and at home. She loved (and still loves) other dogs. At the dog park I always got to see a different side of her – the carefree, happy pup.

To me these videos are examples of Daisy’s second puppyhood. Considering she never really had the chance to be a puppy its probably more accurate to say this was her first puppyhood, but I am sure you get the point. Watching her in these videos it’s easy to see that her inner puppy was just dying to get out.

You’ll notice that when she gets excited she starts to bounce around and run around but doesn’t really engage the dogs yet. She did this a lot at the beginning, excited to see her friends, but not quite sure how to greet them. Just like watching a puppy discover it’s world for the first time. The dog she is running with is her friend Henry. Forgive the goofy laugh you hear in the background. That would be me.

These videos are short but so much fun to watch! Daisy is clearly enjoying herself, even if she isn’t quite sure what to do. Henry also seems to be the perfect friend for her, expecting nothing from her but mutual fun.

Thanks for sharing these, Mel. I’m so glad you captured these moments. One of the reasons I like blogging is that it has become a solid record of my dog, all her successes and failures. If the Internet didn’t exist, I don’t know that I would have any memories recorded to look back on in the future. Just as I don’t with my childhood dog.

She is so cute- and what an amazing place to let the dogs run and play! It’s so nice to have videos to look back on -oh, and I didn’t think the laugh was goofy – it sounded like someone that was enjoying watching their puppy have fun ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for sharing!

THank you Julie! Still a goofy laugh, but yes, I totally was enjoying seeing my fearful dog getting excited. Brings back memories. She wasn’t always this way when we went to the park, but when she finally got more confident she would get so excited to see her friends.

She looked HAPPY! I wish I had more vids and pics of Jordan and my earlier dogs too. Ahhh well. At least, I’ll have something to look back on for Georgia ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great weekend x

She is always happy at put dog park, especially when she sees her friends. I know what you mean about wishing you had more of Jordan. It seems we are not alone.

I know how you feel. I wish I had more videos of my earlier dogs. Especially of Brut, Blaze and Chance as we witness them all come to life from their past lives, but being so busy with their care made it so difficult to track progress, if you know what I mean.

Your videos are great reminders of how far you have come with Daisy and the many more milestones you will make with her. ๐Ÿ™‚

It seems we are not along. Several people have mentioned that they wished they had more videos and photos of their dogs. I am so glad I have what I do have o Daisy, even if I wish I had more, I’m glad I at least have these. I also know what you mean about being so busy with their care. I can only imagine in your case! Do you pay the dogs to blog for you sometimes? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks AJ! I love seeing Daisy like this instead of her fearful side.
