Little Lady Lost – The Saturday Update

Little Lady

Sorry for the abbreviated post for today, but we had three sightings of our little Lady on Saturday, and they were all in the same area!

I have been busy coordinating a stakeout along the route she was sighted today. If she will come to me, I will be bringing her home. If not, we will use a live trap once we have a better idea of her route. We are asking people who are not part of the stakeout crew to stay away for now. As tempting as it might be to drive by and look for her, the chances you will see her are pretty slim. She’s a smart little cookie and very good at hiding. On top of that, more traffic in that area could very well result in her being hit by a car. I want to avoid that if at all possible.

My biggest concern right now is that someone will call out to her and spook her causing her to go further into hiding – one of the dangers of having a fearful dog, they don’t act like normal dogs.

My thanks to the crew that will be out tomorrow watching for her and/or handing out fliers. It was because of the fliers we handed out on Saturday that we had so many sightings today. Thank you to everyone who came to help!!!!

I will post an update whatever the result. If you pray, please pray for Lady’s safe return and if you believe in sending good thoughts out into the universe I sure could use them now. Thank you!

Mel – abbreviated or not, we (and I speak for so many! HA!) are grateful for whatever information you send out. It’s great that she was spotted and I pray that she returns home safe and sound – still – that is my constant prayer. My thoughts are with you as well.

Keep us updated as much as you can. And when you can’t, we understand.

I live on 13 and Lone Oak. I did some searching in the woods today across the highway until dark and did not see anything. I was very quiet and by myself so as not to spook her. I will be checking often out the window. Call me if you want me to do anything more!

Danielle – I thank you for want to help, but if you could avoid searching for her on foot and leaving food out instead I think that would be awesome. Lady is quite smart and quite fearful now, so anyone searching through the woods will likely spook her – no matter how quiet they are and lead her to run further north, further into the woods or down into the river valley. I would prefer she come to you than you go look for her. Thanks so much for helping!

I put dog food out in the yard in a couple of spots. I left my garage door open about 18 inches with food nearby and a blanket and water in the garage. Will look out frequently. I am also praying and hoping for the best, but it is disconcerting that she was in the woods. Living here for 14 years I’ve known of a couple dogs that did not find their way out. I think it is a different situation from a residential area and I would not stand back and wait for her. I would go in and look all night. I hope she is smart and stays on this side of 13.

Bailey Be Good sent me. Our thoughts and prayers are with you that your find your beautiful Lady, quickly and safely. I can imagine how frightened she must feel, and how heartsick you must be. Paws crossed and fingers crossed, and tons of positive thoughts headed Lady’s way that she heads home into the hands and hearts of those that love her. Prayers to St. Francis of Assisi that she is in your arms again very soon.

    Good luck!

What great news! Sounds like she is settling down. Oh, our prayers are so with you, Lady and the universe to be home. All of our fingers, toes and paws of crossed. Good Luck!

Mel, you bet I will respect your wishes. As of yesterday, I was extremely quiet and walked very slowly and quietly. I searched from the DNR house down to where the wetland grass starts. Someone told me she had been lying down so I was looking for a dog resting. I am sure I did not chase her any farther because I could see far into the woods and would have seen somethng move. There is a tunnel that goes under the tracks in between Lone Oak and the Hwy 13 stakeout. Someone should go to the other side of that. Once you are past the tracks (the other side) the terrain gets wet. Sorry if I worried you. I will pray for her!

Thanks Danielle. I didn’t want you to feel bad for looking. I really do appreciate you looking. It’s just that Lady is so skittish that any further scare could lead her to go further into that area and that frightens me beyond belief. Like you said, dogs have gotten lost in there. Up until now she has been staying close to the railroad tracks. I’d rather she stay close to them than to go further in. Thank you so much for helping and for your prayers.

I understand. I know it’s so hard to go through this because I have myself. If there is anything I can do let me know. Danielle 651 456-9007.
